This Privacy Policy explains how Bruin Capital Advisory ("BCA," "we," "us," or "our"), a student-run organization at the University of California, Los Angeles, handles information when you visit this website (the "Site") or interact with us, for example by applying for membership or contacting us by email.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact. If you email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write.
- Applications. If you apply for membership, we collect what the application asks for, such as your name, UCLA email, year, major, résumé, and short-answer responses.
- Members. For current members, we may keep contact details, attendance, and work submitted for club projects.
Information collected automatically
The Site itself does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking scripts. However:
- Our hosting provider may automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability.
- Fonts are served from the Site itself, so loading them does not contact any third party.
2. How we use information
- To review applications and run our recruitment process;
- To run club programming, such as projects, newsletters, competitions, and events;
- To reply to messages and send updates you have asked for;
- To keep the Site secure and working properly.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. How we share information
We share personal information only:
- With BCA board members who need it to run the organization;
- With service providers we use to operate, such as Google Workspace or Google Forms for applications and email, and our website host. These providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies;
- With UCLA, where university student-organization policies require it;
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BCA, our members, or others.
We will not share an applicant's or member's résumé or contact details with employers or other outside parties without that person's consent.
4. Retention
We keep application materials for up to one academic year after the recruitment cycle they were submitted for, unless the applicant becomes a member. Member information is kept while the person is a member, plus a reasonable period afterward for alumni outreach, unless they ask us to delete it.
5. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you emails, by contacting us at the address below. If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for using them. We will respond within a reasonable time.
6. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect personal information, such as limiting access to board members who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The Site is meant for university students and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think we have, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Third-party links
The Site links to outside sites, such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and application forms. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above.
